The course's modules
Province Overview Province Overview In this Module discover the main features of the province including demographics, geography, climate, economy, infrastructure and health and safety risks. Also meet the three main cultural groups and other interesting people of this province.
Historical Overview Historical Overview In this Module, the student learns about the predecessors of man, the Stone Age and the early Iron Age Migrations. Thereafter, the origins of the different indigenous cultural groups are explored. The second component deals with the arrival of the Voortrekkers, confrontations and wars and the Bantustans during apartheid.
Nature and Conservation Nature and Conservation In this Module’s one component, the natural riches and heritage of the province is explored. We focus on the magnificent trees, cycads, bird watching opportunities and Reserves and Conservation Areas. Detailed information is supplied for the northern Kruger National Park.
Waterberg Region Waterberg Region The first component of this course focuses on the towns and attractions along the “Great North Road (N1). The second one, explores the Waterberg region, including towns like Vaalwater, Thabazimbi, Lephalale and the Marekele National Park.
Capricorn District Capricorn District In this Module, the student learns about the capital of the province (Polokwane) and the history of the discovery of gold in the area. We follow the R71 to Haenertsburg, situated at the foot of the Wolkberg. Thereafter, we explore the Alldays region, a hunter’s paradise.
Mopani district. Mopani district. In this module, the student travels via the alternative road (R81, then R36) from Polokwane to Tzaneen. One of towns on route, Modjadjikloof, is famous for the “Rain Queen”. After a visit to Tzaneen. We continue with the R71 towards the Phalaborwa Gate at the Kruger National Park.
Vhembe District Vhembe District This module explores the heart of Venda and VhaVenda traditions, attractions and sites along the N1 north of Polokwane to Musina. Also, visit other towns around the Soutpansberg, including Louis Trichardt (Makhado).
The Greater Sekhukhune District The Greater Sekhukhune District latest district to be incorporated into the Limpopo, is explored. Towns include Ohrigstad, Burgersfort, Steelpoort, Roossenekal, Groblersdal and Marble Hall.
