Province Overview Province Overview In this Module discover the main features of the province including demographics, coat of arms, geography, nature and conservation, climate, economy, sports, infrastructure and education. The students also learn how to find their way in Gauteng.
Historical Overview Historical Overview The historical overview of the province include the origins of humankind, the first inhabitants, the Difaqane, arrival of the Voortrekker, discovery of gold, the first and second Anglo-Boer Wars, unification, apartheid and post-apartheid.
Gold and gold mining Gold and gold mining This module looks at gold in general (origin of the name, definitions, properties, uses and interesting facts, the Kruger Millions, Gold Rushes in the world, the Witwatersrand Basin and Golden Arc, the mining process, mine dumps, methods of extracting gold from ore, Crown Mines and the Chamber of Mines.
City of Johannesburg metropolitan municipality City of Johannesburg metropolitan municipality The student explores this vibrant metropolis, including Johannesburg, Sandton, Alexandra and of course, Soweto. Routes and tours for Johannesburg CBD and Soweto are included.
The City of Tshwane Metropolitan Municipality The City of Tshwane Metropolitan Municipality The first component of this module focuses on the capital of South Africa, Pretoria, as well the townships surrounding it. In the second component, we travel along the N1 and R21. The final one, involves a city tour of Pretoria
Ekhurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality Ekhurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality In this module, the student discover that this region has much more to offer, than only using OR Tambo International for arriving and departing from Gauteng.
Metsweding municipality Metsweding municipality In this module we travel east on the N4. Highlights include the Cullinan mine, where the largest diamond up to date, was found and Bronkhorstspruit with its spiritual retreats
West Rand Municipality West Rand Municipality In this module, the student will get to know a region where hominins were found, Boer and British tension built up and the discovery of gold. It also offers numerous activities, especially game viewing.
Sedibeng Municipality Sedibeng Municipality This module includes the beauty of the Suikerbosrand, the recreation offered by the Vaal River and industries, such as Mittel steel (previously ISCOR) It also witnessed the end of the Anglo-Boer War II and the Sharpeville massacre
